In any case, it is better to be forward-thinking and check the compatibility of all the software that you use most frequently (mainly work). Minimum requirements to install macOS Sierraįor install macOS Sierra You must have a Mac from 2009, OS X 10.7.5 or later, and at least 8.8GB of free disk space. 6 Frequent problems and first steps with macOS Sierra.4 How to do a clean install of macOS Sierra. 1 Minimum requirements to install macOS Sierra.Only drawback: BassJump-Subwoofer kicked the bucket □ (So far sync of internal speakers and HomePod didn't lag) Another 5-6 years of support granted to that good old machine. Installation was a bit of a bumpy ride but performance is quite decent! Next thing will be a test-drive of OCLP_Ventura on a second partition of that very machine.Įdit: arrived at Ventura last night. It's also amazing, these machines also come with antiglare 1680≈1050 high-res displays. Great prospects to keep the mid2012 15"MBP9,1 still for a looong time running as my daily driver with the option for growing SSD-size, maybe DualSSD and multiboot-configuration. So far no lack of functions and the machine doesn't run hot with only moderate fan activity. īut I also happend to install OCLP Monterey on a late-intel mid2012 15" 2,3GHz 8MB RAM MBP9,1 which runs at an amazing speed and performs great. So far I'll keep Monterey only as a test-drive on the Core2Duos. The MacBook also worked at it's limit with fans running more than 50% of the time. When it comes to speed and performance (and 32bit-Support) Mojave is my favorite macOS for early Intels.īut I was quite surprised about the performance of Vanilla Monterey on that old machine, though Maps- and TV-App didn't work. Installed OCLP_Monterey side by side with Dosdude1's PatchedMojave onto my late'08 aluminum Unibody 13"MB5,1. I would LOVE an app that lets you use Discourse forums, but I think that's never gonna happen for OLD Snow Leopard, lol. I'll probably give them a go, if it's not too much effort. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix that, or any other old apps that still run in SL, you can hit me up here. I am trying to run an old version of Steam, which keeps coming up with an network error. Still figuring out how to use that one, and I am reading the manuals. I also installed Bitlbee Discord Client on LimeChat (yes, this is meant to be for Leopard but it actually runs well on SL on an Intel Mac as well). My iTunes Library on my iMac running Mojave has like 2200 songs. I think they're all albums and mostly reggaeton. I forgot that you could view an image of what was now playing in the bottom left hand corner (it's a cool feature if you want to use the mini player, to be honest): I checked my email using Thunderbird, and then I decided to go to iTunes. Yes, it isn't perfect, but it's a nice OS to have fun with. I love the aesthetic, and the fact that it still has a fair amount of support for older applications. I done some more tinkering on the MBP 17 inch (running 10.6.8 SL, it's still running well and a wonderful machine to tinker about on, and experiment with), even today.
